GHOST, GOBLINS, SPOOKY SONGS AND THE POLAR EXPRESS

GHOST, GOBLINS, SPOOKY SONGS AND THE POLAR EXPRESS --
FIND THEM AT THE FOX RIVER TROLLEY MUSEUM;
NEW POLAR EXPRESS RUNS ADDED!

Halloween will fill the air the weekend of Oct. 28-29, as the Fox River Trolley Museum's Haunted Trolley returns to thrill children young and old; no reservations are necessary and regular fares apply both Saturday and Sunday! Those who dare can thrill to a ride aboard one of the museum's specially-decorated vintage trolley cars in a ride that will be fun for children, their daddies and mummies!

Trains will operate 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days from the museum's Castlemuir depot, at 361 S. LaFox St., in South Elgin, and 11:15 a.m.-4:45 p.m. from Blackhawk station in the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve, in St. Charles Twp.

On Sunday, SASS! will entertain aboard trains and beneath the museum's 350-year-old oak trees. SASS! is Sandy Andina, who has performed aboard the museum's Haunted Trolleys in years past, and Chicago-area folk singers Susan Urban and Kate Early.

All have performed across the Midwest and are eager to conjure up spirits good and spooky aboard this year's Haunted Trolley.

“We have more spooky songs than you could ever believe,” Andina said with an evil laugh.

Regular fares of $3.50 for adults and $2 for children 3-11 apply. A special treat awaits all children who attend.

The museum's special Halloween Hiawatha Ghost Story Trains Oct. 28-29 are sold out, but the museum will come alive for a fifth day, in December, as it hosts the Polar Express!

Because of the demand for tickets, new trips have been added on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 4, 5:10, 6:20 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available, but going fast, for selected trips on Dec. 3 and 9. Special fares apply: $6.50 for adults and $5.50 for children 1-11.

Join the Conductor as riders depart from Blackhawk station in the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve for the trip north, be enchanted with a reading of the Chris Van Allsburg book, sing holiday carols, and warm up with hot chocolate and cookies on special trains.

Tickets for the Polar Express will not be sold over the phone or on the day of the event, so advance reservations are necessary by writing the museum, at P.O. Box 315, South Elgin, IL 60177-0315; reservations forms can be obtained through the museum's special events Web page, www.foxtrolley.org/reservations.html. Passes for regular museum trains will not be honored.

The Fox River Trolley Museum, located at 361 S. LaFox St., on Route 31 in South Elgin, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the memories of Chicago's once-burgeoning electric railroad industry. Cars in operation or on display represent all three of the major Chicago interurban (inter-city) electric railways as well as Chicago's “L” and streetcar lines. All museum workers are volunteers dedicated to recreating a bygone era in mass transportation.
